Day Camp Leaders

Day Camp Leaders (Full and Part time)

Reporting to the HOP Manager, and the Community Liaison, we are seeking
creative and energetic individuals to join our summer 2010 team.

Position term will run from June  to Aug.  

As a Day Camp Leader, you are responsible to:
  • Provide supervision and leadership to all campers
  • Cooperate with other day camp staff to provide a positive care environment
  • Assist in the implementation of all aspects of the daily schedule following the provided curriculum, and encourage camper participation
  • Enter pool with campers for swimming lessons, and public swim
  • Provide first aid care when necessary
  • Meet and greet parents and campers on arrival and departure from camp
  • Maintain a clean and safe work/play environment
  • Display superior customer service and proficient problem solving and conflict resolution skills
  • Assist with other camp or pool related duties as required
  • Attend staff in-services as scheduled
Skills and Qualifications:
  • Experience working with children in a recreational setting
  • Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills
  • Exceptional customer service skills and solid problem solving abilities
  • The ability to work Monday - Friday between the hours of 7:30am - 5:00pm
  • A strong work ethic and initiative towards continuous improvement
  • Current Standard First Aid and Basic Rescuer CPR certifications
  • Water Safety Instructor Certification an asset
  • NLS Certification an asset

Lifeguard and/or Instructors

HOP is seeking energetic candidates for Full-time, Part-time, Jr. Guard, and Casual positions who possess the enthusiasm, experience, and interpersonal skills required to provide a rewarding experience to patrons at our outdoor facility.

Position term will run from June  to Aug.  

Salary: $12.00 - $13.00/hour depending upon position  
Hours of Work: Varying day, evening & weekend shifts.

Responsibilities: (include but are not limited to)
  • Maintain pool safety standards in a busy outdoor pool environment
  • Implement first aid procedures
  • Maintain level of cleanliness in pool, on deck and around the facility
  • Provide strong customer service skills including concession support, lesson registration, and patron admissions
  • Have a very positive and professional attitude
  • Instruct Red Cross Swim Programs
  • Evaluate participants and complete report cards
  • Liaise with parents on child’s progress if required
  • Attend staff in-services as scheduled
Skills & Qualifications:
  • 1+ Years of Practical Guarding Experience
  • NLS certification
  • WSI certification
  • Must be a minimum of 18 yrs of age (16 years for Jr. Lifeguard)
  • Must be able to work a flexible schedule
  • First Aid / CPR certification
  • Water Safety Instructor Trainer and Lifesaving Instructor Trainer an asset.
  • Water chemistry and pool operations experience an asset
